THE INTERVIEW

AMY JOHNSON

ACTRESS IN

A & F – AMY & FOURTH OF JULY IN NYC

Amy, tell us a bit more about yourself. Where does your desire to be an actress come from?

I grew up in Orange County, California, where my love for performing began at a young age. My mother enrolled me in ballet and dance classes, which ignited my passion for the arts. Surrounded by the vibrant world of film, I found myself deeply moved by the stories and creativity that I encountered. As a child, I was drawn to the joy that these experiences brought me, and that joy inspired me to want to be part of the creation process myself.

What is your background?

I earned my degree in Business Leadership from Liberty University, where I realized my passion for assisting others, which ultimately propelled me to success in sales. For almost 15 years, I have been a top producer in the mortgage industry. Alongside my business career, I also pursued my love for acting by studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles.

Why did you accept this project : A & F – Amy & Fourth of July in NYC?

New York was the ideal location to celebrate the Fourth of July. Beyond its iconic landmarks, it is a city that has shown resilience in the face of one of the most significant attacks on American soil. On the Fourth, I visited the 9/11 Museum, and I was deeply moved by the countless stories of individuals who stepped up to help strangers in need. On a day that could have easily been overshadowed by profound loss, New York chose love and compassion. This spirit embodies the heart of America—strength and unity.

Tell us a little about your career

I started my journey in the entertainment industry by doing commercials and small projects. A few years ago, I was contacted by Luca, who noticed that my appearance closely resembled Gudrid, the subject of a docuseries he was working on. The episode focused on Gudrid Thorbjarnardottir, and went on to win over 20 awards at various festivals. This experience inspired me to create a travel series, which ultimately led to the launch of A & F.

In the film you are next to your real mother Josephine Johnson, tell us about this experience

My mom is an incredibly likable person and has always been my biggest supporter. We have the best time together, so it felt only natural for her to share this experience with me.

It must be exciting to work with your mother on a project, what did you feel?

Being able to make memories with my mom is always special and I am grateful that I got t share in that experience with her.

How did you work with the director?

Luca is great- he makes all the calls, books all the places we go to. He is very easy going and allows me to make decisions and have my voice heard.

What was the biggest challenge in this?

Primarily, it’s about time. With a busy schedule, I often find myself moving quickly from one place to another. However, I have no complaints; this fast pace makes the entire experience feel rewarding

Do you have an anecdote to share with us in particular?

Attending the production of Swan Lake at the Metropolitan Opera was a truly magical experience. Additionally, the cruise on the Fourth of July and watching the fireworks with the Statue of Liberty in the background was exhilarating and unforgettable.

What is your next project?

My next project is titled ‘Chasing Amy,’ and it will document my journey as I explore the Seven Wonders of the World. In addition, Luca and I will be filming again in Italy and France, uncovering some hidden gems along the way. This will also be apart of the new Chasing Amy Series.
